S-Adenosylmethionine is the bioactive form of methionine, an essential amino acid nutrient that is found abundantly in foods, especially in meat and sunflower seeds. SAMe is used in the body for many important functions, such as brain, heart, hormone, antioxidant, detoxifying, and other metabolic functions. It is a commonly used supplement to treat liver disease in pets, especially cats and dogs.

 

S-Adenosylmethionine has been shown to markedly increase liver levels of glutathione an important compound for liver health formed when S-Adenosyl- methionine is metabolized & has also help protect liver cells from cell death and may help cell repair and regeneration.

S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) is a pleiotropic molecule involved in multiple cellular responses. It is involved in the formation, activation, or breakdown of other chemicals in the body, including hormones, proteins, phospholipids  and certain drugs.

This molecule participates in the following three types of reactions:

1.Methylation : It contributes methyl to activate molecules

2.Synthesis of cysteine, glutathione and other sulfurous compounds.

3.Synthesis of polyamines : Cell growth, gene expression, neuronal rejuvenation. SAMe has been shown to be the major methyl donor in methyltransferase reactions. Supplementation with SAMe can restore Glutathione’s concentrations in the liver but also improve hepatic damage.

Silybin for dogs and cats is a special bioavailable complexed form of milk thistle extract, which has proven bioactive properties.

Silybin also known as Silibinin is the major active constituent of Silymarin, a standardised extract of Milk Thistle seeds, containing a mixture of flavonolignans consisting of Silybin, Isosilibinin, Silicristin, Silidanin, and others.

Silybin works as a high potency antioxidant within the liver and supports the natural systems that control inflammation.

Suggestions for use:

Up to 5kg body weight :       2.5ml

5kg to 15kg body weight :   5ml

15kg to 25kg body weight :   7.5ml

25kg to 40kg body weight :   10ml

40kg to 50kg body weight :   15ml

50kg and above :                  20ml
